Cyberbullying training: prevention and response in practice

Forms of cyberbullying include, for example, sending insulting or humiliating messages, online harassment, threats, spreading slander and targeted defamation of an individual. This also includes publishing or sending sensitive or distorted information with the aim of damaging the reputation of a specific person, both within closed communications and on social networks. But how do we know that cyberbullying is happening if the victim does not tell us about it, and how to proceed step by step in the event of an incident? GBH Academy answers these questions in anti-cyberbullying training and at the same time practically prepares you for similar situations.

What will the training bring you?

The training is based on a practical approach and covers the entire process from problem recognition to its solution. The content is always adapted to the type of organization and the target group, whether it is pupils, teachers or company management. Participants will learn about forms of cyberbullying and learn to recognize warning signs of potential problems. In addition to common harassment and spreading gossip, the program also focuses on more serious forms such as cyberstalking, sexting, sextortion or cybergrooming.

A significant part of the training is also the issue of correct incident resolution. That is, when and how to inform the parents, the social-legal child protection authority (OSPOD), the Police of the Czech Republic or other institutions, and in which cases it is appropriate to file a criminal complaint. Working with evidence is also an important part, including the proper storage of screenshots, links, time data and other digital traces so that they can be used in further proceedings. Due to the growing importance of artificial intelligence, the training also focuses on the issue of deepfake content and ways to recognize this type of manipulation and how to respond to it.

Practical training is also an integral part of the training. Participants will try model interviews with both the victim and the aggressor, but in the case of educational institutions, also with the parents of both parties. Thanks to this, they will learn how to calm down the situation in practice, and not, on the contrary, add fuel to the fire with inappropriate communication or hasty actions. Emphasis is also placed on follow-up prevention in class collectives, i.e. on how to work with the topic of cyberbullying in a long-term and systematic way, so that the training does not remain an isolated one-time event without real impact.

The outcome of the training is not only the acquisition of knowledge, but also a concrete tool that can be immediately used in practice. Each organization will receive a crisis plan template tailored to their needs. It establishes the procedures for the first hours of the incident, the method of protecting the victim and the rules for working with evidence. This document is designed to stand up not only within the organization, but also during the inspection of the founder or in possible legal proceedings. At the same time, participants receive a certificate of completion of the training.

Who will lead the training and how long will it last?

The training is conducted by senior cyberbullying experts who have hands-on experience with real-life incidents. Their professional competence is evidenced by the certification of the National Office for Cyber ​​and Information Security (NÚKIB). The basic format of the training is then set to 5x45 minutes, however, we will prepare the program to suit you.
