First aid in practice

The first minutes are decisive even before the arrival of rescuers.

In the event of a serious injury, you cannot rely solely on the arrival of the emergency services. It normally takes between 8 and 12 minutes to arrive at the location after being called. In cardiac arrest, every minute without resuscitation reduces the chance of survival by roughly 10 percent. In the first moments, the person who is first on the scene decides on a person's health. However, without prior exercise, we can easily panic in a stressful situation or, on the contrary, freeze completely. That is why it is important to practice crisis situations in advance and learn basic procedures that can be quickly used in decisive moments. GBH Academy offers such a training option.

How is the training conducted?

Training focuses on changing a person's response. So it is not just a theoretical explanation, but above all real training in model situations. In the course, you will learn how to stop massive bleeding, how to open the airways, how to stabilize a patient in shock, how to proceed during resuscitation of adults and children, and much more. During the exercises, the instructors will correct your reactions in real time and you will leave the course with a simple and memorable procedure for the first minutes of help.

The training format is planned for 5x45 minutes, but can be adapted to your needs. Likewise, we can adjust the content of the training and the ratio of practice according to your field and audience, which can be educators, company employees, social service workers and other organizations.

Who will train you?

The course will be led by GBH Academy instructors, who include former members of the special forces with experience from foreign missions. The leader of the team is Lumír Němec, former commander of the special operations group of the URNA intervention unit of the Police of the Czech Republic and the special units of the SOG of the Czech Army. Abroad, he took care of the protection of the Czech ambassador in Baghdad and, together with the French Foreign Legion, helped to evacuate allied forces from Afghanistan. He therefore draws his knowledge of tactical first aid from his own experience from real interventions, but also from the current recommendations of the European Resuscitation Council.

GBH Academy is an officially accredited educational institution of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic (Accreditation MV ČR – AK/I-48/2025) and its first aid training procedures are based on TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) principles. This is a first aid standard developed in the US military for the care of the wounded in combat, these principles have also been adopted by civilian rescuers in recent years.
